    10/03/2016  01 October 2015 04:03 pm. Hi all, I've been trying to look into fossicking for sapphires at Wee Jasper. I'm new to this so want to make sure im doing everything by the books and respecting the activity and other fossickers.

Continue on this unsealed road along the southern side of Retreat Creek for 4km to the signposted entrance. Alternatively continue to Sapphire and take the road to the west, passing through Big Bessie to the Graves Hill entrance.     17/12/2012  Macpherson's Creek via Wee Jasper is 16.9k on the Tumut road, an old mining reserve under lease from forestry for cattle grazing. Permission to fossick can be obtained from the lease holder and forestry in Tumut. Sapphires, gold and zircons can be found in the heavies layer 1/2m down in the sandy creek bed left by the gold miners.

For those who have not visited this spot before, the fossicking area is a creek that has formed a small gully and runs through a section of state forest.

    15/08/2013  Hi Col..Wee jasper is getting almost impossible to fossick because the lousy blackberries choking the creek bed. I would go to Grabben Gullen or Tuena. If you still want a crack at bulldozing blackberries then here are the directions. Cross the bridge in Wee Jasper and turn Left.
